Supported independent living is help or assistance with daily tasks to help a participant live independently.
Supported Independent living is only for those with higher support needs who require 24/7 care, including overnight support. Support independent living can be delivered in a group setting with other participants or within the home.
There are several options available to families for long term independent living including:
- With a host or housemate.
- Accessing supports to help you live the way you choose in your choice of accommodation, depending on your needs and goals.
Specialist Disability accommodation is housing designed for participants with high needs and a greater level of functional impairment. These homes are constructed for accessibility and usually are shared with a small number of people.
Medium term accommodation is housing designed for participants who are waiting for long term accommodation. There are several requirements for funding, and this type of accommodation is usually provided for up to 90 days.
